S'adressant aux petites et moyennes entreprises, l'Ethernet Disk est alimenté par le système d'exploitation éprouvé Windows XP Embedded, qui fournit les ressources nécessaires pour la sauvegarde des données, le stockage et le partage des fichiers par son interface Ethernet Gigabit. Compatible avec Active Directory, le LaCie Ethernet Disk accepte 100 utilisateurs au total, avec des droits d'accès aux différents partages individualisables, et jusqu'à 25 utilisateurs simultanés. Le LaCie Ethernet Disk a été spécialement étudié pour protéger les données des postes de travail Windows, Mac, Linux et Unix. Aussi, il est fourni avec trois licences des logiciels Genie Backup Manager Pro™ pour Windows et Intego Backup Manager Pro™ pour Mac.
